X3D-CAD has preliminary support for NURBS and Trimmed NURBS built-in as declarative 3D content. In addition to the XML encoding, there are a two binary formats that support substantial compression. All of the encodings are content-isomorphic. In addition to the full suite of CAD geometric support, all of the rendering, animation, and interactivity of X3D is avaialble to the content developer.
